The divine J-Mo
Jonathon Moran is The Daily and Sunday Telegraph News Editor and Entertainment slash Confidential Columnist, a Radio Host for NOVA and is a Morning Show regular. Phew! More affectionately known as J-Mo, this is a man who loves his new Jeep just as much as 80's tunes, rainbows and interviewing the rich and famous.
Why a Jeep?
I have always wanted a Jeep, it's something I've wanted since I was a kid but they were too expensive and essentially out of my reach. My first car was a second-hand 1988 Ford Laser that I shared with my twin sister throughout Year 12.
I recently upped my mortgage to do some renovations and added some extra to splash out and buy the Jeep I've always wanted. I started my hunt for a Jeep Wrangler, something big and chunky like the toy trucks we all played with as kids. I'm not a bush basher type of guy but I'd like to think I'd be out there with the best of them if I wanted to and this was my chance (realistically I'd have driven it around the city and bush bashing would be far from the agenda).
It's all about the test-drive, right?
When I test drove a few cars, I found the Wrangler big and sluggish. While it fitted perfectly with my dream, it just wasn't practical for my city living. I knew the novelty would wear off longer-term so I started looking at Jeep Cherokee. I fell in love. My requirements were leather seats (I'd never had a car with leather interior), a good stereo, electric windows, most things that are standard these days. I got it all with my Cherokee.

Did you make the right choice?
I love my new car as much as I love rainbows and almost as much as I love unicorns. It is everything I ever wanted and I treat it like my baby. I'm still in the early stages of my relationship with the car so I'm super protective - no food inside, must have clean feet etc. I noticed a chip in the paint on the bonnet yesterday and it nearly made me cry.
What's your fav driving soundtrack?
I always have the radio on - Nova of course - so I can keep up with the new songs the young kids are listening to. ;) If I play music through my phone, I always go for guilty pleasure tracks like Madonna. And I'm a sucker for Sam Smith's album In The Lonely Hour.
You are Thelma. Who is your Louise?
I love being in the car with my 11-year-old niece, Olivia. We turn the stereo up and sing as we drive around. She loves playing the music loud.
Are you a nanna driver or an extra from the Fast and the Furious?
My friends would say I'm a bad driver. I used to ride the clutch when I drove manual. Obviously that's not the case with my Jeep as its automatic.
Things that annoy you in the traffic?
I get annoyed with drivers who do stupid things, but doesn't everyone? I learnt to drive as an elective subject in Year 11 at Hawker College in Canberra. We'd do lessons once a week for a semester. On weekends my mum would take me out in her car but it was auto and the school lessons were in a manual. I was told to make sure I learn in a manual first as I can always pick up auto. So that's what I did.
What is your ultimate dream car?
My Jeep is pretty damn close to being my ultimate dream car. I'd like to upgrade to the top notch version but I'm very happy with the car I've got. If I was to get all fancy and had all the cash in the world, I'd love a BMW X5 or a Range Rover (sport or evoque).
Don't hold back is Jeeps tagline. What did you hold back in 2014 and what's in store for you in 2015?
I'll be living 2015 like every other year, pushing forward with work and life. My aim is to be happy and to make those around me happy however I can. I don't want to live life with regrets. I don't really make New Year's Resolutions and genuinely believe you should not hold back in any part of your life, any time.
